(1) admit to doing sth 承認做了某事。如：
He admitted to having taken the money. 他承認拿了那筆錢。
George would never admit to being wrong. 喬治從不認錯。
(2) apply to doing sth 適用於做某事。如：
These methods apply to learning English. 這些方法適用於英語學習。
有時apply爲及物動詞。如：
We must apply our minds to finding a solution. 我們要動動腦筋找出解決的辦法來。
另外還有：apply oneself to doing sth 專心致力於做某事。如：
She applied herself to learning English. 她努力學習英語。
(3) be [get] used to doing sth 習慣於做某事。如：
John has got used to sleeping late. 約翰已習慣很晚睡覺了。
She is used to living in the country. 她習慣於住在鄉下。
(4)come [be] near to doing sth 幾乎做某事，差點就做某事。如：
I was near to screaming. 我險些喊叫起來。
I came near to forgetting my raincoat. 我差點把雨衣給忘了。
注意，單獨使用的next to（次於）也後接動名詞。如：
Next to skiing her favourite sport was ice-hockey. 她最喜愛的運動是滑雪，其次是冰球。
(5) devote sth to doing sth把某物 (時間，錢，精力等)獻給做某事。如：
Charlie devotes his time to reading. 查理的時間都用於讀書。
也可用於：devote oneself to doing sth 全心投入做某事。如：
She devoted herself entirely to writing. 她全心投入寫作。
注意其被動式。如：
This dictionary is devoted to explaining word usage. 這本詞典是解釋詞的用法的。
Her life was devoted to caring for the sick and needy. 她一生都致力於關心照顧貧病交迫的人。
be devoted to doing sth 把時間(錢，精力等)獻給做某事
(6) (be) equal to doing sth 有能力做某事，能勝任做某事，等於做某事。如：
This is equal to saying that he knows her well. 這就等於說他很熟悉她。
She didn’t feel equal to receiving visitors. 她感到身體不適，不能會客。
(7) fall to doing sth 開始做某事。如：
They fell to eating with great gusto. 他們開始津津有味地大吃起來。
She fell to brooding about what had happened to her. 她開始沉思默想自己的遭遇。
(8) get down to doing sth開始做某事，認真處理某事。如：
After lunch we got down to discussing the issue of pay. 午餐之後，我們開始認真討論報酬的問題。
(9) in addition to doing sth 除做某事之外。如：
In addition to giving me some advice， he gave me some money. 他不僅給我提了些忠告，而且還給了我一些錢。
(10) key to doing sth 做某事的關鍵。如：
The humble potato may be the key to feeding the world’s population. 這不起眼的土豆有可能是解決全世界人口溫飽的關鍵。
(11) look forward to doing sth 盼望做某事。如：
I look forward to hearing from you. 盼早日收到你的來信。
I look forward to being alone in the house. 我盼望着能自己一人在這所房子裏。
