depend用法: depend on sb./ sth. / one's doing sth. / to do sth.
depend不及物動詞，常和on連用。意爲“依靠，.信賴”
1、depend作爲不及物動詞，常與介詞on 或upon連用，後接名詞或代詞：
如:You should not listen to rumor.你不應該聽信謠言。
2、depend 作“依靠”解，其後接“名詞（代詞）+ for something”：
例句：All living things depend on the sun for their growth. 所有生物的生長都依賴於太陽。
3、depend作“相信”解，後接動名詞或動名詞複合結構：
例句：Susan can depend on their arriving here safely. 蘇珊相信他們可以安全到達這裏。
4、depend作“指望”解，後接“sb. + 不定式：depend somebody to do”：
如：You can’t depend on your enemy to help you. 你不要指望你的敵人幫助你。
5、depend 作“看...（情況）”解，後接從句：
如：It just depends on how my wife deals with the problem. 這取決於我妻子如何處理這個問題。
6、depend 作“信賴相信”解，後接不定式的被動結構作定語：
如：Jane is a person to be depended upon. 珍是一個可以信賴的人。
7、depend 在口語中意爲“看情況”，可以有That depends，It depends，It all depends等幾種說法：
例句：--Are you going--It all depends. 你會去嗎看情況。
8、depend on/upon it 意爲“請相信沒問題”，用於句首或句末：
如.：Do depend on it，and we shall succeed in time. 請相信，我們會成功的。
9、depend on 後接表示“是否”的從句時，只用whether，不用if：
如.：It depends on whether you want to do it or not. 這取決於你是否願意這樣做。
